DESTRUCTION: 'Live Discharge' DVD North American Release Pushed Back (Again)
May 26, 2004The North American release date of DESTRUCTION's "Live Discharge - 20 Years Of Total Destruction" DVD has once again been pushed back — this time to June 1. According to Gerardo Martinez of Nuclear Blast America, the delay is due to the fact that "our distributor needs a couple of months leeway to make sure everything will run smoothly and don't run into last minute things with either production or edits of any kind."
Unlike in other territories, the U.S. fans will only receive the bonus live CD, "Alive Devastation", in the limited-edition pressing of the DVD. "The reason why the regular only has the DVD is because we needed to keep it under the $20.00 just so we could keep it within Caroline's (distribution) guidelines," said Martinez.
With regards to whether this is "cheesy", Martinez said, "I really don't see why [anyone] would say it's cheesy. We couldn't charge people over 20 bucks for the DVD, so we decided to still include the audio CD on the limited edition one. For the real die-hard fans. I really think that people dedicated to the band like myself will find it cool to buy the limited one as a digibox because the real fans already bought the import live CD, just like I did when it came out!"
The band commented on their web site: "The limited edition will only be released through mailorder in North America (666 copies),which didn't happen in the band's interest! DESTRUCTION won't support this label policy and would like to apologize to all their faithful American fans for the delay and the disappointment! Please send us a short statement about what you think of all that 'delay drama' and we will have some give-away surprises for YOU!"
Preview clips of two tracks from the DVD are currently available online: "Live Without Sense" (recorded at the Z7 Club in Pratteln, Switzerland, .MPG, Windows Media),"Machinery Of Lies" (.MPG, Windows Media).
